Summer survival tips !
Are you ready for fun in the sun? What you should have in your bag of tricks:
H2O - Drink up folks! Need lots of this for out door activity that make you sweat. Making your own gatorade is a great way stay hydrated. Heres how; Large alkaline water from Trader Joes, 1/2 teaspoon of pink Himalayan sea salt, 1 teaspoon local honey.
Sun screen ( body/face) - It's important to try sunscreen first just incase your allergic to it. I like the spray on kind for my body and I use a lotion for my face before I even leave the house. Nutrogena makes a greaseless spray in every number from 15 and up. For my face La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Clear Skin Dry Sunscreen for the beach. For everyday I like 2 different facial sunscreens. Dermalogica PowerBright TRx Pure Light SPF 50. This is the only SPF that offers protection without dulling the complexion, and works well under makeup. I also like Origins GINZING Energy boosting tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 4o. When I use this my skin just glows.( P.S. they also have a great ginseng under eye cream, it illuminates area under the eye so that my dark circles aren't so noticeable)
Sunscreen (Hair) - UVA rays damage the pigment of your hair and cause changes in color. UVB rays are more harmful to your hair as they cause structural damage when the free radicals attack the hair’s proteins, specifically keratin. So you see, you want to make sure that your hair is protected from both types of UV rays, and for that you need a broad spectrum sunscreen. When you put sunscreen in your hair, some things that could affect its ability to work are sweat, oils from your hair, and any activities you do in water. That is why you want to be sure to use a water resistant sunscreen to protect your hair.
If your hair is color treated then it is even more likely to be damaged by the sun. Just find a sunscreen with 80 minutes of water resistance, and remember to reapply it at least every two hours, or after getting your hair wet! This means the best sunscreen for color treated hair is going to be a water resistant one to ensure it doesn’t melt away at the first sign of oils, sweat, or water! Think baby Sunscreen , Alba Botanica Sensitive Mineral, Elta MD UV Pure California Baby Super Sensitive, BADGER Baby Sunscreen. These can be used on hair as well as scalp.
There are a few from beauty experts as well. Sun can make colored hair fade, while also having a drying effect. So treat your hair like you would your skin.
